SMOG CHECK TRAINING

LEVEL 1 (Engine & Emission Control Fundamentals):
The engine & emission control  fundamental training is intended to provide students with fundamental knowledge of engine control theory, design and operation.Students who sucessfully complete this training will have met the first step of the BAR training requirements for inexperienced candidates of the
Smog Check Inspectors License.
LEVEL 2 (Inspection Procedures):
The inspection procedures training is intended to provide students the knowledge, skills and abilities  needed to perform  smog check inspections. Students who successfully complete this training will have completed the second, and final step of the BAR training requirements for the Smog Check Inspectors License.

LEVEL 2 (Inspection Procedures):
Completion of the Inspection Procedures training in conjunction with any one of the following additional specified criteria makes the individual eligible to take the
Smog Check Repair Technician's Exam
Additional Specified Criteria:
  • ASE A6, A8 and L1   OR
  • AA/AS CERTIFICATE IN AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY
            & 1  YEAR EXPERIENCE   OR
  • 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE & BAR SPECIFIED
            DIAGNOSIS & REPAIR TRAINING
